Peggy was born and raised in Pouch Cove, Newfoundland Canada a small fishing community located on the Atlantic coast. She showed artistic talent at a young age and received her first sewing machine when she was just 5. She was so enthusiastic about being able to create outfits for her dolls that no piece of material seemed safe. She laughs when she recounts the story of her mother going to the closet to fetch a dress she wanted to wear for an evening out only to find a ten inch square piece of fabric had been cut out of the dresses backside. At that young age she could not understand her mother being so upset as "she hardly ever wore that dress anyway". Now with three boys of her own Peggy tries to keep this incident in mind when they get a little too enthusiastic in their artistic pursuits. Peggy has definitely made up for the little pieces of fabric she would cut out of pillows, sheets and dresses when she was young by making beautiful dolls for her family over the years. |
Peggy thoroughly enjoyed the
arts throughout school and often had her work submitted to various contests for
consideration. Being an extremely social individual and always wanting to try something
new Peggy studied hairstyling and fashion design and quickly became the hairstylist of
choice for those in her community and surrounding communities as well. |
