Artist Biography

Peggy was born and raised in Pouch Cove, Newfoundland Canada a small fishing community located on the Atlantic coast. She showed artistic talent at a young age and received her first sewing machine when she was just 5. She was so enthusiastic about being able to create outfits for her dolls that no piece of material seemed safe. She laughs when she recounts the story of her mother going to the closet to fetch a dress she wanted to wear for an evening out only to find a ten inch square piece of fabric had been cut out of the dresses backside. At that young age she could not understand her mother being so upset as "she hardly ever wore that dress anyway". Now with three boys of her own Peggy tries to keep this incident in mind when they get a little too enthusiastic in their artistic pursuits. Peggy has definitely made up for the little pieces of fabric she would cut out of pillows, sheets and dresses when she was young by making beautiful dolls for her family over the years.

Peggy thoroughly enjoyed the arts throughout school and often had her work submitted to various contests for consideration. Being an extremely social individual and always wanting to try something new Peggy studied hairstyling and fashion design and quickly became the hairstylist of choice for those in her community and surrounding communities as well.

Peggy has an excellent ability to conceptualize something before it is created and refuses to ever work from a pattern. She loves to see the look on her girlfriends faces when they go to the mall together and look at outfits and she later recreates them, incorporating all the best traits and leaving out the bad so that they can go out on the town and show off their one of a kind creations. "Nothing is better than being on the dance floor and have a stranger approach me and say were can I buy that outfit?" says Peggy with a smile. Throughout the years Peggy has dabbled in everything from fashion design to interior decorating but her consistent true love continues to be her dolls. Everyone knows if you buy Peggy a present it has to be a Barbie and she boasts quite a collection. She takes great satisfaction in being able to offer her creations to people who will cherish them as much as she does and is always genuinely surprised and excited when people greet her new work with such enthusiasm.
